Already available the Strict Anti-DDoS filtering feature!
At Clouding we like to include new features to expand our service and provide you with the best cloud solution. And within the new features that we offer you, we’ve launched the Strict Anti-DDoS! This new functionality is now available in your Clouding control panel.
Strict Anti-DDoS is designed to protect servers that receive a large number of DOS (Denial of Service) or DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on a very constant basis, such as online game servers or services such as TeamSpeak. But it can also be useful for other types of servers that are subjected to a large number of constant DDoS attacks.
Differences between ordinary Anti-DDoS and Strict Anti-DDoS
The difference between both Anti-DDoS filtering systems lies in their sensitivity. That is, in order not to interfere with the proper functioning of the services hosted on your server, the ordinary Anti-DDoS system is normally in “sleeping” mode and filtering mode is only activated when it detects unusual traffic directed to your server. This is done to minimize the chances of false positives, which could affect the functioning and performance of your cloud server.
When a server has Strict Anti-DDoS filtering enabled, traffic is always filtered by default. This greatly reduces the DDos traffic received by the cloud server but also leads to a greater number of false positives, which could affect the performance or functioning of some applications or services hosted on the server.
Activation of the Strict Anti-DDoS filtering system
If your server is continuously subjected to a high number of DDos attacks, we advise you to activate it. However, if your server is not subject to these constant attacks, our recommendation is that you don’t activate it. This is because it can have adverse effects with certain applications such as VPN, DNS, RDP servers or monitoring servers, among others, as we have mentioned above.
If you decide to activate Strict Anti-DDoS, it will not incur in any additional cost to you. Keep in mind that you can only activate it in your client panel at the time of server creation. It’s not possible to activate or deactivate it once the server has been created. This is so because the strict filtering IP ranges are different and the specific IP is assigned when your server is created.
What you can do is clone your cloud server and when creating the clone, choose whether to enable or disable Strict Anti-DDoS filtering for the cloned server.
If you don’t activate this new feature, your server will continue to be protected by the powerful Anti-DDoS filtering service, which is already included in all the servers on our cloud platform.
We hope that this new feature will be useful to you and that if your server is subjected to intense DDoS attacks, you can take full advantage of it and have your servers protected.
