Upgraded the vCores architecture at Clouding.io!
At Clouding.io we take care and continuously improve the platform hardware. A good infrastructure is essential to provide you the best cloud service, which is what you enjoy at Clouding.io!
New vCores with upgraded architecture
We have finished removing all Hypervisors based on Xeon E5 v2 and from now on all Clouding processors are at least Xeon E5 2699-v4.
By removing all hypervisors based on Xeon E5-v2 processors, we have been able to upgrade the extensions and architecture servers from Ivy Bridge to Broadwell.
This change has allowed us to activate the following flags – previously disabled – : 3dnowprefetch, bm, adx, avx2, bmi1, bmi2, fma, hle, invpcid, movbe, pcid, rdseed, rtm and smap.
These new flags have more specific functions that allow faster calculations, which means that processors have improved their performance.
Now the vCores of your cloud server are faster and more powerful! Also, you will enjoy the performance increase provided by the new Broadwell architecture.
A CPU performance test performed by our team sheds the following result:
- Before, with Ivy Bridge -> Passmark Performance Index: Constant between 1,700 and 1,900
- Now, with Broadwell -> Passmark Performance Index: Constant between 2,000 and 2,200
How to make this improvement effective
If you’re wondering: ‘And how much is this improvement going to cost me?‘ The answer is nothing! You can enjoy your new processors without any increase in the cost of your vpd cloud server 🙂 The value for money is one of our hallmarks, to which we remain faithful. Your satisfaction is our priority!
All you have to do to benefit from this change in the platform architecture is to stop and start your server from the control panel. Please, keep in mind that a restart from the control panel as well as operating system does not work fos this purpose.
If you have any questions about the new vCores architecture, you can call or e-mail us to [email protected]. The Cloud Pros will be happy to answer to all your questions!
